Navigation systems for USV

Seafloor navigation systems enable users to navigate pre-defined routes autonomously. To prevent accidents and enhance equipment safety, additional systems, such as Seafloor’s Collision Avoidance Assist, can also be installed.

Seafloor AutoNav

The Seafloor System AutoNav™ is an autonomous navigation and control system for unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), specifically designed for hydrographic surveys. It enables users to precisely follow pre-planned routes and profile lines, thereby achieving consistent, reproducible and efficient data collection.

AutoNav™ is based on robust firmware and a redundant IMU system, ensuring reliable semi-autonomous navigation even under demanding operating conditions. Control is typically carried out from the shore; the system supports telemetry ranges of up to approximately 2 km and is designed for use on various Seafloor USVs such as HyDrone, EchoBoat and HydroCat.

Seafloor AutoNav Plus

AutoNav Plus™ is Seafloor Systems’ advanced autonomous navigation and control system for unmanned surface vehicles (USVs). It enables fully or partially autonomous hydrographic surveys to be carried out along predefined routes and profile lines, significantly reducing the need for manual control.

Compared to AutoNav™, AutoNav Plus™ additionally incorporates an on-board computer on which GNSS, echo sounder and sensor data are recorded directly on board. At the same time, the system allows the operation of common hydrographic data acquisition and navigation software (e.g. HYPACK, Qinsy, EIVA, PDS2000) as well as remote access from the shore.

AutoNav Plus™ is designed for various seafloor USVs such as HyDrone, EchoBoat and HydroCat and offers stable, repeatable route guidance, supported by redundant IMU sensors and robust communication links. AutoNav Plus™ is therefore a key component for efficient, reproducible and safe autonomous USV surveys.
