SmartCast

The SmartCast™ was developed by Seafloor to automatically lower a sound velocity profiler to depths selected by the user. The winch can be mounted on the front of the USV and uses an IP69k encoder to track the SVP. The user can activate the system, switch between remote control and automatic mode, change units, enter the desired deployment depth and monitor the deployment process via the Seafloor SmartCast software.

The built-in limit switch resets the starting position before each deployment to ensure precise deployment. The system can also detect whether the SVP has reached the seabed and, if so, returns to the starting position.

The winch is equipped with sufficient rope for a range of 30 m and has been tested to ensure an error margin of just 0.5% (15 cm) at maximum depth. As soon as the SVP returns to the surface, the data is automatically transferred via Bluetooth to your PC or smartphone. The winch is compatible with most sound velocity profilers.
